Cotia ended August 2026 with a positive balance of 479 formal jobs and ranked among the 20 municipalities that generated the most jobs with a formal contract in the State of São Paulo during the period. With the result, the city took 18th place in the state ranking.
The data come from the Seade Foundation, compiled from information from the General Registry of Employed and Unemployed Workers (Caged), of the Ministry of Labor and Employment.
Among the sectors that contributed most to the positive result in August are services, with a balance of 243 jobs, commerce, with 154, and construction, with 131 new jobs.
In the accumulated total from January to August 2026, Cotia records a positive balance of 616 formal jobs, considering the difference between hires and terminations in the period.
The result keeps Cotia prominent in the generation of formal jobs and follows the initiatives developed in the municipality to bring workers closer to the opportunities available in the labor market.
Through the Municipal Department of Labor and Income, the City Hall maintains employability actions, with assistance, guidance and referral of workers to available vacancies. The municipality also promotes selection processes in partnership with companies, expanding the population's access to opportunities in different areas of activity.
In the State of São Paulo, nearly 43 thousand formal jobs were created in August. In the accumulated total of the first eight months of 2026, the São Paulo balance exceeded the mark of 300 thousand new jobs.
